finally started driving practicals..

yesterday was my first lesson.. mangaed to drive for around 30 minutes.. and i'm kind of surprised, i thought first lesson would be inside the school or circuit? i started on the road.. was very nervous at the start but slowly got used to it..

left leg is for clutch right is for brake and acceleation.. keep releasing the wrong leg =(

anyway going out for a game of soccer.. cheers..

finally the first ever DDM gradshow is over.. today we returned all the equipment and stuff that we loaned from school.. good news nothing is missing or damaged..

overall well done both commitee and cohort..

however, i hope this is not the end of us.. hopefully we can all remain in contact.. hoping for future gatherings..

went out today to have lunch with Kevin and BX.. they are actually my online game (utopia) friends.. the first time we met was around 1 year ago.. we played mahjong at my house..

anyway we met at tanjong pagar today at around 2 something.. we went to Icon Village to the Sakae Sushi outlet for buffet lunch.. we were joined by Allan another utopia player..

anyway main point.. i saw a damn big rainbow!!!! when i came out of Serangoon MRT, i saw many people standing by the roadside, being curious i turned to look at what they all were looking at.. a RAINBOW!!! many had their camera phones pointed towards the sky and snapping it.. this is probably the biggest rainbow i've ever seen.. as my handphone has a damn lousy camera , i ran all the way home to get my camera and snapped some photos..

finally handed up FYP yesterday.. however, have to continue tweaking it and re-render some parts for ACM by next friday..

anyway main concerns now is the Grad Show and yearbook..

have to compile and edit all the photos, and design the yearbook ASAP to send it for printing..

and for the gradshow,, we're still like a long way to go from settling it..

the confirmed dates are 9th to 12th march

9th setting up, 10th actual day plus VIPS and screening 11th another day of showcasing 12th tearing down..

damn tired........... i need a break..

another boring day.. i cant seem to find anything nice about this weekend..

friday, i went to school to find out that idiot years ones shut my comp down.. it was rendering halfway..
then i restarted the comps and started rendering again.. fucking year ones think they own the lab, they use the comps without asking, even though it was clearly stated or can be seen RENDERING..
grad comm meeting.. everything seemed ok.. except for on or two things, not related to grad show.. then the walk to FC2.. WTF.. injured my finger playing basketball.. still swollen..

meant to talk on msn earlier but only came home past 12.. asked you if you were free, thanks for ignoring the question.. went to sleep at 2aM.. got woken by screams and shouts from an arguement between my sis and mum.. finally woke up at 12.30.. had duck rice for lunch.. same as what i had for dinner last night.. boring afternoon..
no one wants to go out.. SIANS.. rot at home.. skipped going to my grandpa's place.. stayed home to cook instant noodle.. now waiting for the noodle to cool down for eating.. damn bored..

i've been thinking,, is stomp.com.sg an act of invasion of privacy?

stomp.com.sg is a site where singaporeans post photos and videos of "bad acts" by fellow singaporeans.. this bad acts such as ugly commuters and caught in the act.. yes we dont want such stuff happening to us, but do we have the rights to actually film/photograph them?

ok the website might be a legitimate website with nothing wrong, however, people post photos/videos of others whom they might not know on it..

Privacy law is the area of law concerned with the protection and preservation of the privacy rights of individuals.

so do the people who uploaded the photos/videos have the rights to actually film or take pictures of the people in their video or photos?

my presentation timeslot is at 3.30 pm on monday 9th of feb.. i still have 2 scenes not finish rendered.. in total aBOUT 300 to 400 more frames to be rendered.. the current render times for the frames are around 20 min per frame to an hour per frame..

furthermore i still have the credits to do.. i tried thinking of roles to put your into, however i'm stuck.. i dont want to not credit you two, but where can i put your into?

anyway, poly is coming to an end.. one more week before its all over.. just when we are enjoying the freedom and time together.. DDM gathering after FYP and grad show??

after close to 3 years in poly, i only recieve letter for bad attendance once, for my Gems, when i was in a class without my classmates.. but now i recieved it again.. after coming home from celebrating Alvin's birthday, my mum was still awake, instead of good news or anything interesting, she told me about the letter..

freaking Daryl Lim.. just late and he doesnt give any attendance.. seriously damn fucked up lor.. wonder what i've learned since attending his first lesson.. useless teacher.. -.-

started rendering my FYP.. render times are horrible long.. at first one frame took 1hr and 17min, HD 1080 quality.. i managed to cut render time down to 20+ min per frame..

anyway.. had our DDM yearbook photoshoot.. hope to get the pictures soon.. some of them are jut hilarious lol..

anywaym CNY is just around the corner.. FYP due so damn soon, CM report due 30th jan, CS presentation 3rd feb..

what a nice way to celebrate CNY.. i got my results for my CM assignment 1, was terrible.. 55.5 only..

4e3 Gathering 17th Jan

had a great gathering yesterday at Deacon's place.. thanks Deacon and family for hosting the gathering..

met up with some of the early birds at 2pm and we went to buy the food for the bbq.. this is the first time i have a bbq using a GAS BBQ, no charcoal involved.. the gathering was a combination of deacon's 2e3 class and our 4e3 class.. around 20+ people attended it..

we had one table playing cards, another table playing mahjong.. we starting the bbq at around 7 something, and started drinking games at around 8.. 4 people got thrown into the swimming pool =D

who has alcohol? lets play 4 Kings!!

i'm back after attending Beatty Secondary School's Alumni Get Together..

i was late for the event but somehow and probably due to it =), i won 4th prize in the lucky draw.. there was a total of 5 lucky draws.. 4 were won by girls so i guess i was the lucky guy.. just before the draw for the 4th prize, i told my friend that i didnt want a Ipod Nano (they announced the prizes before the draws..) then somehow.. Lee Yen (mc): " and the winner is Esmond Poh"
lol i was surprised because i thought i didnt submit my lucky draw coupon..

anyway less of the lucky draw.. overall the event was great. but probably the dancing and the dj wasnt that fun.. too bad the alcohol finished all too soon.. i only had a glass of white wine..

had an FYP meeting this morning.. i thought it would be a sign of good news, however, the usual bad stuff came.. all along i thought for the first time everyone did their part.. however, the truth came at last.. hahahaha.. the scene done was more or less what they did last sem..

anyway.. went to orchard to do some CNY shopping.. my main aim was to get some new shirts for CNY and for the year.. luckily got 2 kind souls accompany me and help me choose.. in total i bought 4 shirts.. and luckily at one of the shops, was a sec sch friend.. gerald, thankfully he gave me 10% discount for a shirt.. haha..
in total i spent,, $212.30

so much for CNY shopping.. time to save money again.. because i dont think my parents will be paying the full price.. =(

first week of school..

hey, first week of school is over, 6 more weeks to go, plus two more weeks of exams (more time for us to complete our FYP)..

kind of running out of time very quickly yet i still dont have any interest in doing or getting my FYP done.. anyway mangaed to force myself to watch the Gnomon Pyrotechnic DVD this afternoon, and learned something from it..

hopefully i'll be able to get my fire done by this weekend.. got to start animating the rest of the scenes soon, if not i'll be the one dragging the group down.. seems like my group is working finally.. everyone has at least one scene done since the holidays hopefully we can another scene done by this week and start rendering..

as poly comes to an end, its been a great and enjoyable 3 years.. we all managed to survive and no matter what problems or obstacles we faced, we're here, last 6 weeks before school comes to a close and FYP is due =)

hey,, went on a photography trip today with ShutterClitz..

we went down to the Marina Barrage to shoot.. was supposed to shoot the sunset and moon rise, however due to some unforseen circumstances we were late.. anyway the walk in from Marina Bay MRT is seriously long, dusty and dangerous with lots of heavy vehicles going by..

on the walk in, we managed to take some shots of the setting sun.. today's weather was great and the sunset was fantastic.. too bad we didnt have the best of angles and place to shoot it..

also i didnt bring along my tripod (both my tripods are spoilt) shot some shots before it got too dark.. luckily joshua brought along his tripod, managed to borrow from him and shoot some night shots..

will upload the photos soon, my Photoshop CS3 is down.. anyone has Adobe CS3 to lend me?

i'm tired of having to wait and wait and wait..

school reopened today!!!

first lesson of the day, CS, communication skills.. and guess what i failed the test! i got an F for the exam last sem, but got a moderated C for that module..

anyway anyway.. found out today that no one in my FYP group have anything new to share.. seems like everyone was having a holiday.. i've done one scene and been playing with fire lately.. anyway had Hai Hiok to help me this afternoon, should be able to get my fire done by this week..

i finally got my hair cut!!

it cost my $20 to wash and cut..

anyway im so freaking bored right now.. just drank finish 1.5L of coke.. COKE FTW!!

wowww.. i managed to survive 48 hours without sleep.. after two nights of mahjonging and christmas celebrations, i'm shagged.. when i got home around 10 this morning, i just crashed into bed and slept all the way till 5.50pm.. now have to go and attend another Christmas party this one organised by my cousins.. will be away till tomorrow.. ohhh i soooo need my sleep =(

wooohooooo. i finally forced myself to start on my FYP once again.. and i've finally completed one of my scene. just left the retexturing to do before it is finalised..

anyway Christmas is around the corner!!! and i still have lots of presents to buy.. this is like the first time i'm buying presents for friends.. normally its just for my family and cousins.. i'm so broke =(

wow.. i managed to complete a 1000 piece puzzle in an afternoon =)

the puzzle cost me $72+ and has one missing corner.. and guess what..

when i called to check about the missing piece, they asked me to count the width and length.. whatever for?? -.- a corner is a corner.. charge so expensize yet have such problems.. lousy guess i wont be buying anymore puzzles from this shop then..

somemore i will take another 8-10 weeks for them to "process" my request for the missing piece..

back from a family holiday to Tanjung Pinang.. had quite a nice time there, getting away from the big busy city of singapore.. there its a much relaxed place, with the place much less developed.. their biggest shopping centre has only 2 floors..

also the lifestyle there is much more relaxed.. their rich people drove BMWs.. the surprising thing is that the majority there are teochews.. anyway had a good time walking in the city streets exploring and feeding my eyes..

the boat ride back to singapore was horrible.. not only was the air con not working, the boat ride ended up more like a rollercoaster ride.. the boat was boucing up and down and shaking left right.. lots of people vomited due to it..

anyway after being back in singapore for a day, i fell ill.. up to know still sick, down with a little fever, severe headache and runny nose..

have a little private party later on lets see how it goes.. haven bought the food or drinks..

got my napfa results today.. and guess what.. i got silver =( due to my 2.4km run.. somehow during the run they didnt take down my timing when i completed.. however on the result slip i was said to have completed at 11 min 41 sec.. which means just 2 seconds faster and i would have gottet a C and a Gold for my Napfa =(((
The application server is down at this time.
stupid mysas.sp.edu.sg wont load.. so wont be able to post the Napfa result slip..

our week 4 presentation has been postponed to week 6, which is next week.. and with presentation on Monday we're left with less then a week to complete all our BLOCK animation, test renders, and final textures done..

still with plenty of work to do.. done two parts of my blocking, left with the MAGIC BOOK and texturing of all scenes and test RENDERS..

anyway here's two sample renders of the scene i finally completed today..

this is supposed to be the magical tree that somehow entangles an old man's buffalo.. the OLD MAN, BUFFALO and tree trunk have not been textured yet.. reason for zebra looking buffalo, i was just trying to amuse myself..

i'm so sick and tired of FYP!!!! i really dunno why i agreed to be part of this group at the start of the year.. anyway had a group meeting today.. supposed to start at 10.30 but it only commenced at 11.30+ also the reason for the meeting is to see what all of us have done and continue with blocking(due week 4, now in the 3rd week).. however it seems like work is only done when we have a meeting..

went to Night Safari Last friday with the Redang Group, had a great time scaring ourselves before we went for supper and stayed overnight at Doris's home..

anyway i lost my Lens Cap at the Night Safari..and my Memory Card had some problems.. lost quite a few pictures that i took that night..

back to FYP, i've finally completed the Rig and painting of weights for the Dragon.. i'm hoping the rest of my group did their share too..

when we had our first FYP group meeting this Sem, everything seemed great.. everyone said they would do this and that and all agreed to our dateline on 20th Oct..

however when the 20th came.. my "high hopes" got deflated very quickly.. when we all showed our works(3D models) it was as i expected.. the usual thing happened again.. i'm not shooting anyone or pointing fingers.. its just that its not the first time this has happened..

seeing "amazingly done" weapons which i think even a year one can do better.. seeing the less then half done model of the old man.. haisss i wonder why the hell am i even in this group..

anyway we agreed that by Friday (tomorrow), 24th Oct we would meet up again to show our progress.. but just received an SMS by Janet that the other two dont have much new stuff to show.. Reworking on the Old Man, means still modeling stage, one week behind time, Buffalo no idea whether its done or what..

hellooooooo.. i'm back from my 3 days 3 nights trip to Redang Island.. its been a wonderful and fun experience.. this is my first time going on an overseas trip with friends thats not organised by school but by ourselves..

anyway, had a great time there soaking up the sun.. we Snorkled, Swam (swimming pool), Jaccuzzi-ed, Beach Soccered, Beach Volleyballed, Canoed and Banana Boated!!

woke up at 6:15am today.. me and damian were the official photographers for Zhonghua Primary School's lower primary sports day.. although i was very tired after the Philips FullSound Roadshow at Plaza Singapura for the weekend, it was still quite fun.. managed to talk to some of my ex-teachers, some of them still recognized me.. anyway after around 2 hours, the lower primary sports day was over.. had a great time taking pictures of the kids sweating it out and also the Parent-Student Race.. after the event me and damian recounted our Primary School and Secondary School lives..

anyway, went for the Thank You dinner by Goh Joo Hin, for our work at Comex 2008.. it was very good.. we had buffet dinner at Swissotel Merchant Court.. although there was a limited range of food, we still had our fill.. after dinner we took a stroll along Singapore River, and watched people taking the Reverse Bungee..

and now, im home.. waiting for my hair to dry before i can go to bed..

went jogging today with alvin at the TPY stadium.. this is the first time i've completed 2.4km.. during my sec school days i've always skipped the 2.4km test, except for my sec 4 year when i walked all 2.4km and finished just under 20min.. anyway, ran 6 rounds in 13 min and 39 sec.. i think and hope that with some training i'll be able to cut it down to 10min?

anyway for those who haven't know, i failed once again.. this is the third time i've "taken" this test.. if you dont know what i'm talking about, well its something BASIC.. anyway i wont be retaking it till after poly..

Back!.. went out to celebrate Vanga's birthday buy burning candles and sparklers.. first at Bishan Park, then at Seletar Reservoir.. we then went to Sembawang Park to chat before turning home.. happy 19 and 1 day dude..

watched Death Race today.. and i've got to say its Great!.. although it has sickening scenes with lots of blood, its still one good movie.. go catch it if u have not.. in my opinion, its worth the $6 that i paid for the ticket..

finally i've caught Money Not Enough 2!! its a nice movie, quite interesting story line and good acting especially from the Mother!.. however, Jack Neo's movie are starting to get predictable, happy towards the middle part only to become very sad and touching and then happy again.. even the jokes in his movies are getting lame.. however, the red Mickey Mouse bra really was a joker.. also i'll have to admit, the touching parts got to me.. lol.. but luckily i was able to hold back tears.. hahaha, anyway going to catch Death Race tomorrow.. hopefully it will be just as nice as its trailer..

feeling extremely tired after 4 tiring and interesting days at the Comex 2008.. was working for Goh Joo Hin a company distributing Philips products.. i started work on Wednesday, helping up in the setting up of the booth.. thursday to sunday started at 10.30 till 10pm.. its been a pleasant experience, hopefully there will be more chances to work for more of such temporary jobs..

went to Botanic Garden on monday with Damian, John and Joshua.. we spend nearly 4 hours taking photos there.. just want to say the plants there arent that nice anymore.. and they werent any water Lilys.. =( one of the main reasons why i wanted to go to Botanic Garden was for the flowers.. anyway i also want to say the food there is @$#^ing expensive.. one packet of fries $3.. anyway here are some of the nicer shots i took.. feel free to comment..

alright i'm home.. had a great evening today.. firstly we had to go school for the NDP 08 debrief.. however i have to say, that once again the NDP debriefs are kind of pointless as till now it doesnt seemed to have helped or made a difference.. afterall NDP 08 is already over, whats done is done..

anyway, moving on.. the Reception at Baize China One at Clark Quay was great.. the dinner, the drinks, the people it was just fun.. i think everyone enjoyed themselves except for maybe Siva, due to drinks on him for an Hour..

anyway got saboed by the guys to participate in one of the competitions which was dancing.. and not only that.. they saboed me to do the most difficult of the 5 dances.. lol although i didnt win the top prize, i won a participation prize.. the participation prize was a lucky dip kind, i was lucky to pick a 25 hour limited edition watch!! lol

its been a long time since we've been able to drink so freely.. anyway i'll be updating again tomorrow with photos from Monday's Botanic Garden Trip.. cheers..

things just felt wierd.. and i'm running out of steam.. one week 3 assignments.. DDM-ers nightmare.. left my trolley scene to render over night in school.. hopefully it will be ready and still there tomorrow morning..

came up with a short visual effects reel yesterday.. discussed the idea with alvin and then talked to Hai Xu about it this morning.. we're hoping to do it after fyp is done.. how i wish we can redo our VEFX assignment with this new idea..

anyway took some photos when i was going to school this morning.. missed my bus, so i decided to take the lift up this block of flats to try and catch the rising sun and morning light..

yay.. VEFX is due on friday and we're hardly 1/3 done.. with only the 3D renders done we still have a long long way to go.. i see most of the other groups with their work already in After Effects while we have yet to start on After Effects.. really wondering whats going on this year.. everything doesnt seem to be going on track.. if only we can restart back at OITP again..

why did we end up doing this stupid trolley story???? there is like so many other simple ideas for a VEFX reel.. why a trolley of all objects???

NDP 08 has been a wonderful experience for me, sweating it out getting sun burnt every saturday, however seeing it come to such a great ending just makes all this "suffering" well worth it.. although some of us from SP Livefeed team got replaced last minute due to some order from some NDP side people.. at least we managed to make it up by shooting lots and lots of pictures! whether a misunderstanding or not, whats done is done.. from now on FREE Saturdays!! however, this also means one thing, NO MORE NDP!! =( i know i'll miss NDP.. BTW, your smile lights up the sky =DD

congrats Camera 1-5 operators, you've just been released from your operating roles and you are now officially Grips and PAs of the professional guys.. for over 5 NDP rehearsals we've been in charge and operating camera 1-5 during the shows until NE3, camera 1 and 5 were removed of their duties and told to learn from the professionals taking over them.. being told that it would happen for just one week me (camera 5) and shin (camera 1) werent too bothered about it.. however today.. we found out the truth.. not only were we two going to relieved of our roles for today's preview and on the national day itself, another 3 cameras were going to be taken over by professionals..
now camera 1-5 have been taken over.. yay! jeanine rocks and mr quek sucks.. mr quek always leaving early, not knowing what is actually happening.. thanks for siding the NDP side..

took quite alot of photos today,.. but sians.. i didnt notice my camera ISO was set to 1200.. fucked up pictures.. everything is grainy.. another saturday wasted.. stupid NDP is wasting my time..

wednesday - vivian's birthday, and the day i first ice skated, i never knew ice skating was so fun, luckily i didnt fall..

thursday -survived a long day at school

friday - had no life, stayed home and WOWed whole day

tomorrow NDP Preview.. our last practice before the actual day.. my Basic Theory's on monday 4th august, haven started reading the BTT book yet.. lots assignment due soon.. 2 more weeks of ECI.. Cine and VeFX due the following monday.. FYP way behind time..

why am i up so early on a saturday morning even when there's no NDP?

just bathed after cycling home from Toa Payoh.. left home at around 4.45 am this morning to do filming at Toa Payoh.. finally have all the footage that we think we need for VEFX, due week 18.. i dont even know what week it is now.. hopefully we'll be able to complete on time..

FYP is a mess right now.. after visiting the ACM again on thursday we need to redesign our main character and story.. so there goes my baby dragon..

GardenFest 08 is on.. i need to do more photography and try and win something.. D700... =((

last night's NDP 08 rehearsal was the best so far.. had a great time filming it, although it was in front of 27000 spectators it was just FUN! the fireworks at the end was close to the full fireworks to be seen on the actual day.. and we have just 2 more rehearsals till the actual day.. anyway.. Nikon will be releasing their latest DSLR by the end of this year.. the Nikon D700!

sent my Nikon D70 for servicing today.. and guess what the total cause for servicing and repairs is $278.. i can really feel my bank account and wallet crying already.. my camera needs 3 parts to be replaced.. Pop Up flashfaulty, replace SQ Base Unit, Aperture Control to be replaced, Lower Case unit to be replaced.. anyone wanna chip in? LOL i'm poooooor..

anyway on the bright side, here's a render of the trolley i modeled for my VEFX assignment. done using Maya 2008, a total of 33 thousand Poly faces..

today is Friday and Friday means, NO LESSONS! one thing about having no lessons means having another boring to kill at home.. actually have two assignments to do.. however i just cant bring myself to start on them.. Animation Studio (FYP) and VEFX, both year long modules..

leaving home soon.. going for another photography trip.. this photography trip was organised by Mr Leon Chua for the yr3 IA students, but me and Damian are tagging along.. i'm hoping to boost my photography portfolio during my this last year of Poly..

anyway, yesterday's Sinema @ Old School was great! the screening of our seniors works, even though we've watched most of them was still interesting.. and guess what, Jack Neo was there too! he was the invited guest.. we managed to talk to him and take some photos with him..

hopefully it will be my turn next year when my batch of year 3 works are screened.. gtg now.. need to reach Raffles MRT by 4.30pm.. see ya! all those taking O Level Chinese next monday good Luck!

HANDPHONE GOT CONFISCATED/KOPED BY PARENTS..

on the way home from cousin bbq, due to foul mood, joined in an arguement between my brother and parents about HANDPHONES and allowance..

bad mood was due to having to stay at boring BBQ even though it was long over and most of the people have left.. BAd mood, was trying to sleep in car but arguement was too noisy..

had school today, but visited the Asean Civilistation Musuem in the afternoon for my FYP.. at the mean time while taking photos for our research, i managed to take some leisure shots..

here are the shots of Singapore's CBD only took 5 photos, and heres 4 of them..

hopefully everyone likes them.. the reason for the foggyness in the shots is not due to any change of APERTURE or SHUTTER SPEED or WHITE BALANCE.. it is due to something else, but i'm not telling you what.. because if i tell you why, you'll surely laugh at me..
